Hello again!
I know, it’s been a while since I’ve posted a new animation. My John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship at Stanford has been keeping me busy — more on that later.
Through the magic of writing, cartooning and the voice talent of John Taylor, I have a new animation for you. (I swore off Trump for a while, but unfortunately, we can’t avoid him forever.)
The least we can do is make fun of him and point out the hypocrisy and absurdities. We’re going to need laughter and satire to make it through this.
Here’s my latest . . .
I feel like we’re still in the novelty phase of the coming Trump administration — each day brings a new surprise from the casting desk of a horrible new reality show.
The darker aspects of this assortment of bigots, alleged and/or convicted sexual criminals (or rapists, depending on state law) and grifters is just beginning to emerge.
It feels like a weird, long dream that is surely going to become more nightmarish.
On the brighter, side, I got to caricature Marc Benioff, a confusing guy who is eminently caricaturable!
If you want to dig deeper into this animation, give a listen to just how rough this song started out.
The writing is basically the same — John Taylor added a couple brilliant ad-libs toward the end of the final version — but things fortunately progressed a long way from my scratch audio.
I hope you have a great holiday season, the next post will be about what I’ve been doing in my fellowship year, stay tuned.
Until then, I hope you enjoy this wonderful time of year. (And avoid the Trumpiest parts.)
Thank you for being here and supporting my work!
