Today I'm adding to my collection of anti-Facebook (now "Meta") cartoons.
In case you haven't been following this story, Meta is blocking all news outlets from being shared or posted on their platforms in Canada.
That means a hard news ban on Facebook and Instagram in Canada.
Here’s a little sneak peek/listen at the early audio . . .
While I normally think it'd be a great thing if we all just stopped using those sites and apps, in this case Meta is blocking important information from reaching people fleeing the huge Canadian wildfires.
The tech behemoth is doing this because it's trying to get the Canadian government to back down from forcing Meta to pay news organizations if their work is shared or posted on these platforms.
Meta doesn't want to pay, so they're punishing users who kinda' sorta' need to hear where the next evacuation will occur.
(And soon, this may not be “just” a Canadian problem.)

Besides spending time with great people like you, this is another reason why I love Substack (and Patreon) and hate the big tech social media platforms. (Remember, if we call them "platforms" instead of "publishers," they will save billions of dollars and get sued less.)
