Meanwhile, the ICE majority takes over the Supreme Court

Before some idiot killed Charlie Kirk and turned him into a heroic martyr who will no doubt soon lie in state under the U.S. Capitol dome, the right-wing majority on the U.S. Supreme Court put its seal of approval on racial profiling.

Using the super-duper-emergency shadow docket, the majority gave the go-ahead to government agents who want to round people up because of their skin color, their funny accents or their jobs.

Basically, if you happen to be Latino, have an accent and have a job that involves manual labor, ICE has a right to detain you and demand you prove that you are a citizen. (Quick: At what hospital were you born?)

But don’t worry, according to Squi’s pal Brett, it’s only “common sense” and the Fourth Amendment can be suspended as long as it doesn’t take too much time out of your day.

It appears that all but three (3) of our U.S. Supreme Court justices have a thing for masked agents scooping non-citizens and citizens off the street, detaining them for an undetermined amount of time and deporting them or releasing them, depending.

This is a big deal and another step in our early-phase autocracy.

As frustrating as it can be, I’m also a big fan of nonviolence.

If only we could bury bigotry, xenophobia and misogyny along with Charlie Kirk, rest his soul.
