Our authoritarian president has doubled-down on his attack on history, with the Smithsonian Institution and its various museums now in the crosshairs.
Donald Trump recently posted that the Smithsonian is too focused âon how bad slavery was.â
As most people know, slavery was indeed very, very bad.
But never mind, Trump wants to spiff up American history to suit his vision for a great, forward-thinking nation . . . never mind all that uncomfortable stuff about white supremacy, racism and genocide.
So I thought Iâd show what Trump history really looks likeâŠ
As with so much else in the second Trump administration, the current attack on history has moved way beyond an unstable old man ranting â now administration lawyers are roaming the halls of museums looking for âimproper ideologyâ exhibits as funding is threatened.
Trumpist cultural revolution, anyone?
Our Great Leader and his minions are micromanaging and whitewashing our shared history to the point of reviewing âplacards, wall didactics, digital displays, and other public-facing materials.â
The creepily-named executive order issued back in March, âRESTORING TRUTH AND SANITY TO AMERICAN HISTORY,â was a tipoff to what was coming.
I donât understand why we canât show âthe remarkable achievements of the United Statesâ while also showing the awfulness that makes up the truth as well.
Oh yeah, thatâs right, they donât want the truth. Itâs about erasing uncomfortable facts . . . and people.
Fabulous! "Affordable workers!" The current moneyed elite want us all to be affordable workers. The elites want medieval times back and we get to be the serfs in their scenario, and they will constantly remind us of our "place!"
