Doing It All: Bombs and Aid

🇺🇸Absurdity, on the march!

The horror in Gaza is entering a new phase.

Reports are emerging of children starving, people eating weeds and animal feed to survive — which of course increases panic and chaos.

Even though Israel is still bombing, other nations and aid groups are trying to get humanitarian supplies to the Palestinians.

That is exceedingly difficult to impossible amid a war.

The United States is now supplying bombs to Israel and humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people at the same time.

Talk about absurdity in wartime.

U.S. airdrops of food and supplies or aid delivery by boat might sound promising and make for good video footage, but humanitarian groups say it’s a pretty ineffectual way to help people.

While it’s a great gesture and may help a very small number of Palestinians, one boat sent by celebrity chef José Andrés looks like a drop in the ocean.

The Biden administration is clearly getting a little grumpy with Netanyahu’s “over the top” war — maybe we should stop supplying all those munitions to a guy who seems intent on doing what is worst for Israel, not to mention Palestinians.

The conversation between Biden and Netanyahu seems to be going like this:

Biden: Humanitarian corridors.

Netanyahu: Meh.

Biden: Cease fire.

Netanyahu: No.

Biden: Pretty please, stop.

Netanyahu: No.

Biden: Okay, we’ll air drop aid.

Netanyahu: Send more bombs, too.

Biden: Okay, and we’ll build a pier that’ll be ready in 60 days or so.

Netanyahu: Send more bombs.

And so on . . .

There are so many other ways the U.S. could exert pressure on Netanyahu, “flooding the zone” with aid sure isn’t working when the zone keeps getting blown up.

Contrary to a certain cartoonist’s twisted brain, there are no plans to deliver humanitarian aid via dolphins . . . yet.
