Cartooning Climate Change
How to make it not depressing for you & me . . .
There is a lot of psychology and emotion that goes into (and hopefully comes out of) my work.
So much of what I do is wade into the muck and make cartoons that say something in a fun, accessible way.
(In other words, give an opinion about weighty things without depressing you or me.)
One of the trickiest subjects is climate change — I mean, what’s more depressing than the end of the world, or at least our place on it?
Which is why I occasionally call on Flamey McGassy.
Flamey is one of my go-to characters who talks about climate change, because he can’t get enough of those fossil fuels and that wonderful, wonderful warming.
If you want to hear a preview of the upcoming animation, you can listen to it here:
Flamey McGassy is back!
I guess I should have added an “unfortunately” in the headline but I didn’t want to scare you off with negativity. Here is a little preview of the upcoming Flamey McGassy cartoon. Spoiler alert: We’re not dead yet! In case you haven’t seen Flamey before, he’s a little torch of fossil fuel fire who espouses the benefits of climate change.
There is lots more work to be done on the animation, but know that it won’t be all doom and gloom . . . even though the title is “It’s Too Late.”
It really does seem like we are in a feedback loop/doom cycle/global climate apocalypse but scientists beg to differ.
Like many of my cartoons, this one will be a little autobiographical.
I started out feeling like it’s too late, but is it really?
In the meantime, here’s a small gif of one of Flamey’s past performances.
Now back to drawing and animating for me, I’ll see you back here with the finished animation shortly!
